Composer Tomás Luis de Victoria

Hi, I just wanted a quick translation of the lyrics in this beautiful composition which you can hear on wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:UnusE ... isMeis.ogg

these are the words according to a website I found:
Unus ex discipulis meis
tradit me hodie.
Vae illi per quem tradar ego.
Melius illi erat si natus non fuisset.
Qui intigit mecum manum in paropside,
hic me traditurus est
in manu peccatorum.

Here is a translation from a web translator:
One out of disciple meis betrayal me today. Woe in that very whom surrender I. Better in that was if you wish to be born not to have been. Quae to announce mecum hand upon paropside , this me surrender is upon hand peccatorum.

It gives me the impression of being about Judas, what do you guys think?

I was thinking about using this recording in a film I am going to make, and I wanted to totally understand what it's about, either to eliminate it or draw inspiration from it.
Thanks

Because the quality of the translation. See THREAD: #5579

The passage is about Judas. It comes in part from Matt 26:24.

It starts:
One of my disciples
betrays me today.
Woe to him by whom I am betrayed
It was better for him if he had not been born

I cannot make out the next line, I think that you have some typos...

brilliant thanks a lot. The translator wasn't far off, I mean I wouldn't trust it going the other way, English to Latin, but you can get the jist of it. I understood it was about Judas from what it spat out.

The next line must be about mercy and forgiveness, you could guess that without any clues...

Actually the last two lines are
he will betray me
into the hand of sinners

Nothing about mercy and forgiveness...

Here is the full translation:

One of my disciples betrays me today.
Woe to him by whom I am betrayed.
It would be better for him not to have been born.
The one who dips his hand with me into the dish,
this one will betray me into the hands of sinners.

By the way, there is an error in your transcription. You have “intigit” where you should have “intingit.”
