This one has me really struggling. I even wrote a program to do pattern matching from The Latin Library, and still can't get it.

Pile.jpg

Here is what I have:

Portat tres pilas argenteas in campo rubeo / Il port de goulez trois pelettez dargent / Tortille sunt notabiliter maiores quantitatis quam pile / pila eciam est peciam ligni sub pede pontis ? ? ludendi ? et talis pile ponunt eos ex omni colore preter de auro et si sint de auro talenta dicuntur / ut patet magis in alio loco predicitur de pilis et de tortellis

Does anyone have an idea?

I don't know what the symbol is after pontis. I think the next word is instrume[n]tu[m]. The next symbols underlined are &c &.

After the &c & I make it talis pile p[ossu]nt e[ss]e.
At the end of line 5 it looks like p[re]cedet[ur] de pil[is]

Thanks Wescott, that is very helpful :)

Mediaeval Heraldry has: Est pila pes pontis, pila ludus, pila taberna, Pila terit pultes, et pila geruntur in hostes, so the etc would make sense. precedetur makes me feel much happier than predicitur too. I wonder if the unknown symbol is something like item?

That excerpt is from Yale SK25.T85 1450 from the Yale Center for British Art. If I ever get around to finishing the app, these would be published with it.

Bodleian MS. Lat. misc. e86 is mostly on line. The illustrations in this manuscript are much better.

Can I ask what your interest is in it?
