Dear all,
I have made a translation of the following and just wanted to check its accuracy. I am not happy with consortio = 'company' and would like to take advice as to whether this is a suitable translation or perhaps 'association' or some other word would be superior. Also, perhaps moribus could be 'manners' rather than customs in this context.
Grateful for your input/views on this short sentence.... thanks!!
...Assero & identidem repeto sine Anglorum consortio nusquam Hybernia bonis moribus instruenda fuisses
[‘... I assert and repeat again and again, that without the company of the English, Ireland would never have been able to be instructed in good customs']
