What would you put on a 'Welcome' mat?

I am considering a gift for someone who is a latin instructor. I need assistance, rather than asking him and spoiling the gift.

I would like to have the latin word or phrase for 'Welcome' woven onto a door mat. What latin word or phrase should I use? What would you want on your own latin 'Welcome' mat? Please provide an english translation for your phrase, as well, if it is not an exact translation.

"Salve!" is a common choice for this kind of thing. It literally says "be well", which was the most common greeting in the Roman world (known to us at least).
