Sorry to revive an old thread 2 years later, but did anyone figure out how to translate the very last line of this chapter (62.14) , specifically the bit I've put in bold:
ego si mentior, genios vestros iratos habeam.
Translations I've looked at render it stuff like 'may your guardian spirits damn/punish me' but I'm pretty sure this isn't a literal translation ...I'm not sure whether iratum...habeo is some sort of idiom?
