We could just about turn this sub forum into a commentary on the book

Magis illa matella digna fuit quam taurus iactāret

I can't piece the grammar together. Is quam functioning as something ut taurus illam iactaret? It seems to me that it should be illa digna fuit a tauro iactaretur

Dignus + relative clause with the subjunctive = lit. "worthy that would...", that is "worthy to..."

Do you mean quae/ut a tauro iactaretur? Although many verbs can either take ut or omit it, I'm not sure dignus can be used with the subjunctive alone.

Anyway, digna fuit quae a tauro iactaretur and digna fuit quam taurus iactaret mean basically the same thing, the focus being only slightly shifted owing to the change in voice. If the former sounds better to you, it's probably only because it's easier to translate slightly more literally into English. But in Latin both are good.
