Mediterranean Fauna

How would "Mediterranean fauna" or "fauna of the Mediterranean" translate into Latin? In this case, the word "Mediterranean" is used as the name of the sea or the region.

Would "fauna Mediterranei" be a correct translation using the genitive case?

I believe Mediterranean Sea was called Mare Nostrum.
So maybe fauna Maris Nostri?
Or maybe animalia?

I did a quick internet search, vicipaedia does list fauna in it's present meaning

My first guess was : Fauna (Regionis) Maris Mediterranei - Fauna of the (region of) Mediterranean Sea.

I'm not sure what your purpose is; I don't think anyone would doubt that fauna is a Latin word.
It appears that Linnaeus used animalia and Mare Mediterraneum.

I was trying to understand the correct translation(s) of "of the" when we say "Fauna of the Mediterranean".
I believe Adrian's response answers that.

Yes. Substitute animalia for fauna if you like.
