Hi!

Is bombosus (ressonating noise) a Latin word or was it perhaps imported from other language?
Any advice is welcome!

Hi,

That word can't be found in the dictionaries I use, but both the English and the French Wiktionary articles have it in red in the "bombus" article (as in, someone added it to the list of derived words but no article has been written yet).

As for "bombus", that's where the English "bomb" comes from, it's a Latin word of Greek origins, meaning "buzz, humming sound". "Bombosus" looks like a regularly formed adjective from "bombus"; I guess it could be used to describe something that makes a humming sound.

It did turn up in a Google search, but it was mostly linked to Porcellio bombosus, a woodlouse, so maybe it's a New Latin word (as in, a relatively recent neologism coined by scientists).
