Ive seen different ways to write memento mori and I want to know the correct one.

the first one is memento mori, the second one is momentō morī, so I hope my stoic friends could answer this for me, it may be logical but still I need a second opinion

It originates in Medieval Latin and was likely conceived as "remember the [concept of] dying", "remember you're (always) dying", that is "be mindful of death". In non-medieval Latin the phrase looks obscure, something like "don't forget to die". See here for further elaboration.
