Somehow sat in my memory that quid refert means what is the benefit, but I can't find anything like this in dictionary. What I find however, I don't find as anyhow fitting to the context. How would you translate it?

You were probably looking at the wrong verb. There are two similar-looking ones:

Lewis and Short

Never mind, I just realized I was reading convivia instead of conviva. In that way it make sense.
