Bona noto, Terry.

Tiu ofte evitas min.

Kiel Pacifica jam diris, la konstruajxo "for to see etc." estis tre normala en la angla antaux kelkaj jarcentoj. Pensu pri la Sxekspira maniero de esprimo. Alie oni povas kompreni por + inf. kiel "in order to".

Cxu vi uzas lernolibrojn?

Mi pensas, ke parolata Esperanto sonas kiel rusa kaj itala kombinita.

Mi amas la sondosierojn; ili estas tre utila, speciale por imersio (mi amas sonlibrojn gxenerale). Cxu vi legis ajnajn aliajn interesajn librojn?

Eble. Mi vere ne scias. Usually it's marketed kinda good...it simply wasn't backed up by a global power like English was, in my opinion.

Mi pensas ke its main selling point por la plej longa tempo estis gxia originala ideology. Homoj view it as a lost cause. Additionally, there has been a push to teach it as a complementary bridging lingvo with the claim that it facilitates the learning of other languages. Kvankam there's a lot de vero to this, it's only vera por Eurocentric lingvoj.

Even though gxi estas tre facila lingvo lerni, gxi still requires a good amount of time & effort to learn, which homoj eble find esti disincentivizing.

Mi suspektas ke la plej bona vojo antauxe estas igi gxin cool per populara media (kinda like High Valaryan or Klingon or something).

Any thoughts?

I didn't know that; came across this only today. (Wiki) . . . His (George Soros) father Tivadar (also known as Teodoro Ŝvarc) was a lawyer and a well-known Esperanto-speaker who edited the Esperanto literary magazine Literatura Mondo and raised his son to speak the language. . .

George Soros is a denaskulo, one of around a thousand in the world. He has other toys to play with these days, however.

Ja, he's a rare breed of Esperantisto.

No, I do not - and must admit I have never been tempted to learn it. Almost as useless as Latin??? :)
Denaskulo = native speaker? Just curious.

Sorry, I thought you might be an Esperanto speaker, too. Yes, denaskulo is a native speaker.

-o = singular substantive ending
-ul- = person involved with whatever it is that precedes
nask* = root meaning birth/born
de- = prefix meaning from

Alas, no. Just saw the thread - and decided to have a look around. Thanks for confirming native speaker. Denaskulo somehow reminds me of denuded. Kulo sounds a bit like culo. Sorry for lowering the tone.
