"Sich an etwas bedienen" - correct German? Sich bedienen - no problem, but "an etwas" sounds odd. Would "von diesem Buch bedient" be aceptable?
Wild speculation, but I wonder if Osman sees a linguistic link between larch and gum arabic.Having looked more closely at that list, I thought quid malum, Arabic larches? They appear to have got that one wrong, as by the books it's from Latin larix.
