Patriae is genitive.

Causa in the ablative is "followed" by the cause, so to speak, in the genitive case, but in fact, most often the word in the genitive physically precedes causa in the sentence.

I think cinefactus means that the adjective in the text you quoted is difficillima, and therefore, should be translated slightly differently than "difficult."
